Javed Akhtar Kayani is a versatile’ friendly and quiet person. Born in 1964 in Shah Faisal Colony (Natha Khan Goth), Karachi, his ancestors (parents) belong to Badlot village of Jhelum (Punjab) and Maldeo village located in the suburbs of Dina Jehlum. He belongs to Gakhar Rajput community. Matriculated from Ibrahim Ali Bhai School, Shah Faisal Colony in 1978 and completed two-year Diploma in Fine Arts from there. In 1984, obtained BA degree from Allama Iqbal College Stargate Karachi. Poetry began in this period. He joined Sindh Police Karachi as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in 1987 and was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 1996 and DSP in 2016. In 1998, he went to Bosnia for the first time on a United Nations (UNO) mission to UNMIBH, where he served as the Local Police Advisor and Advisor to the Minister of Interior in Gorazde Canton. In 1999, he was deputed to UNMIK (Kosovo) on a UN mission, where he was appointed by the then Police Commissioner of Kosovo (UNO) as Regional Commander “PEJA” in view of his services in Bosnia ‘ The entire region was created and established by DSP Javed Akhtar Kayani In year 1999 to 2000. He was again deputed to Kosovo UNO (UNMIK) Mission and served as Chief of Human Resource Management of Kosovo Police Service for two years and played an important role in putting the Kosovo Police Service on its feet. In 2005, in recognition of his distinguished service in Kosovo (UNMIK), UNO Headquarters New York USA requested his services from the Government of Pakistan, particularly as the Chief Advisor Kosovo Police Service and after successfully serving for two years from 2005 to 2007, he returned to Pakistan and is currently serving as a DSP in the Sindh Police. He received the UNO PEACE MEDALS three times for his distinguished services during the UN missions
